mccain is doing democrats a favor by running ads designed to divide clinton and obama supporters. such ads will make the clintons’ emphatic endorsement of obama at the convention more impactful. hillary clinton has already begun turning the mccain ads against him, using a line today in one of her speeches — “I’m hillary clinton and I do not approve that message” — that will no doubt figure prominently in the national newscasts today. people don’t like being manipulated. the more mccain tries to push on the clinton/obama divide, the more clinton voters will support obama. mccain would have done better to leave the subject of clinton/obama alone. obama couldn’t have asked for a better setup for the convention.
